Looking for transport!

People ask me some times if we know anybody driving from Amsterdam, Cologne or Berlin. But it is difficult for us to respond to, because we do not keep track of cities where people come from. We are looking for transport from: Amsterdam, Cologne, Basel, Berlin and we are looking for people who can pick up people from the nearby train station. So if you have space in your care and can take somebody, please let us know.

The camp almost full now

Dear Taboe lovers,

Just an update on how we are doing. The camp is almost full now. We have 105 dancers, 55 % non-Dutch and 10 nationalities. It will be a big party. We have a little more women than man, but an equal number of leaders-followers. This is somehow always magical. There are still some women on the waitinglist. So if you know a man who should come, just give him some extra motivation.

Who wants to offer workshops

As you know the camp is a place where we share inspiration. You as a participant can offer workshop (ideas) to the group. Some examples of last camp were: street tango (a mix of street dance and tango), tango and sexuality, a video clip, paint your interpretation of music and dance it, and many more.

We are open for suggestions. So if you have an idea just send us a mail and we can see if we can make it happen during the camp.

See you later

Warm and cozy!

Last winter camp was great, but the dormitories were cold. But this time no worries, there is heating all over the place. The main building has been renovated last summer and we will have a warm gathering in all respects. I even hope we have some snow, so we can have a snowball fight with 100+ people. That would be great.

Love cannot return unless you give it.

One of the central themes of Taboe is that giving and receiving are equally important in life and dance and equally difficult. And the big challenge is to ballance them both. This is such an old theme, and still ever young because we find new ways of giving and receiving.

Paul

Who is coming

Just to give everybody an idea of the participation for next camp. We are booked 60% now, so it will be a lively camp and probably fully booked. At the moment about 65% is non-dutch, so there will be a lot of different languages spoken.

We will have to start a waiting list for followers soon, so motivate all male dancers around you. And we get more questions about whenn the summer camp 2009 will be, well write this down:
Taboe Summer Camp 1-5 July 2009.

See you withing 2 months......

Little angels

Somehow it feels that events like the Taboe camp brings a lot of authentic and spontaneous energy into everybody. That's why we like to have children around, because they are the best examples being so spontaneous. So parents, do not hesitate and bring the little angels with you. We are organising special events and have already a contact-mom to discuss Taboe-children experiences and arrange for care and entertainment. You can contact Anja Strengers at anja.strengers@versatel.nl.

The next camp 30 dec - 4 jan

Okay, here we go..... we started registration for the next Camp at the end of the year. After one week we are 30% full, so people who want to join have to make up their mind fairly soon.

Next camp is on the same location (yes, there is heating in the dormitories, so don't worry) and the same formula, but with new ideas, people and teachers. If you have suggestions, please tell us. We are looking for creative workshop ideas and talent to give them. Also contributions to this log are welcome.

This time we really going to try to get more children in. We even have a special contact mom, Anja Strengers, you can ask your questions and give your suggestions on kids. (Her contact details: anja.strengers@versatel.nl, +31.30-2940077)

We, the Taboe team, are looking forward to the next camp.

See you later,

Paul

Ghosts and Angels

It's now 7 weeks since the last Taboe Tango Camp started. Sometimes it seems like it was yesterday and at other times it seems like years ago.

I eventually got around to processing the photos that I took at Taboe Camp. Strictly speaking I did not take any photos as I set my camera up in the corner of the room and asked it to take a picture for me once every minute during the evenings. I also set the exposure time for each picture to 2 seconds. This was so that enough light could be captured to ensure that the image wasn't completely black. This has the effect of blurring the image of anything that is moving, usually dancers in this case making many of the dancers appear very ghost like.

Click here for a link to a small selection of the pictures.

I also want to say a special thank you to the Angel who gave me a lovely picture before I left the Taboe Camp. I have no clue as to who the Angel could be, and that is as it should be. I just want the Angel to know that the picture is in my bedroom to remind me every morning of all the lovely experiences that the Taboe Camp gave me.

Thank you.
David

Tango del sol

This videoclip was made at a media-workshop on the Taboe Tango Camp summer 2008

24/07/2008

Dear fellow Angels,

How to explain to other people what the Taboe Tango Camp was all about?
I’ve tried to, but words don’t seem to do justice to the things I experienced. In the end my friends simply concluded that I had had a really good time as I kept on smiling like an idiot with every memory, every image that popped up: the wonderful people, the lovely dances, the workshops and creations, the ‘propjes’ritual...

I’ve kept this marvelous tango-energy for days (and then there was the TangoVerde summerparty and a new strand of energy emerged...;-))

For me the camp was one big playground. This place full of creativity, imagination, sharing and love made me experience a new kind of freedom – to express myself, to (re)discover myself. I learned a lot these days, not just about tango, but also about myself. For which I’m very grateful.

When I first visited the Taboe salon in May, one of the very first things I noticed were all these people coming in and not simply greeting each other, but hugging – intensely as I may say. I wondered what that was all about. Nevertheless, in spite of this obviously incrowd thing, I felt very welcome, danced with a lot of people and had a splendid night.
Tomorrow I’ll be without a doubt one of those hugging people – yes, I consider myself incrowd now ;-). I know now how such a wonderful experience as the Taboe Camp can bond people together.
My hopes are that this lovely, crazy, openminded, loving and caring Taboe community will welcome new tangodancers as warmly as ever. And that all of you angels keep on sharing with others and multiply the Taboe spirit!

With love, Eline

the time after.....

The time after.....after taboe tango...how is that?

...memories,
lots of gooooood memories passing by,

...the shoulder massage rups, someone starts, the YES -let;s do THAT virus! carries on and in no time you have a massive fun line and caring stroking fingers in your back and neck. great!

The saying good buy line: beautiful and terribly emotional as well....all these eyes , memories of moments and dances shared together---I felt so happy, so sad and vulnerable all together

the cleaning of the dormitories: to the sounds of gotan project a broom brush tango trio evolves in the moment, instant composition with stoffer and blik, no discussion, just do and dance in one go, wonderful! (the ones I shared that with will remember..)

Playing with Paula, (this GORGEOUS angelito!!!) being in nature, smelling the woods, the wet leaves after the rain,
greeting the earth and meeting the sky in the morning with Roberto in the qui Gong circle,
sharing fun whilst waiting for the coffie or doing the dishes,

the encounters on the dance floor: each time touching upon a different energy, entering into another personal bubble of body-story, exploring, stumbling upon sometimes, laughing, being carried together into the flow of the music,

Most of all: experiencing the dynamics of people, their laughs, their ways, their energy.
open the heart and spread the vibe, be an angel everyday!

I felt my angel already today and the wings touched upon me...hmm.

What makes you happy!

Thank you, Paras & Paul, for making this possible. Without you, this would not have happened. You two unite all these fine and lovely people...

It was wonderful!

Rik

A dream came true !!

I ended my first year Tango dancing in Antwerp.
And I wanted to stop completely with Tango dancing !
It was to difficult, to technical … and I also experienced most of the time the same “socializing” as if we were on a “normal” party.
To much seriousness and superficial contacts, also in the lessons. Not enough intimacy and joy.

But now I discovered the one and only Taboe Tango Camp!!!
The melting of all worlds …
Milonga/tango, Smokefree parties, Biodanza, 5 rhytms, … Tantra courses …

The All In One Happening Austerlitz July 2008!!!
THANK YOU XXX

Yes, suddenly without taking one single extra lesson I could dance Tango ten times better, deeper, sweeter, more intense and intimate then ever before!
The energy field that was created again and again during the workshops, the daily togetherness, the incredible wauwing kick-offs made my heart sing and my body light and made much more possible then usual. I was flying over the crowded dancing floor, without the normal crashes!

Now I even start dreaming about a real Tango Community !!!
Imagine a place where we live together and where the Tango Taboe Dance is our life style, our daily food !!! Yes Paul and Paras, if we can create what we want, what are we waiting for???
Who joins me to build further on this idea?

But before flying to high, let’s keep the feet on the (dancing) floor.
I want to “repeat” it all in December with you, my brothers and sisters … my untamable wives and wild men!

So my beloved Paras and Paul please note the registration from me and Arjun for (y)our 6 days long and still to short amazing Taboe Camp during the end of this wonderful year 2008!

Note for the ones who are interested in the Intimate/Sex tango issue:
What to do after a close embrace dance … ???
After a few endless minutes that our heart melts,
and our whole bodymind longs for more,
while (s)he is already in the arms of somebody else,
dancing towards the ever changing moving clouds of happiness … ???

Well, just say … Zeg gewoon:

Ik dank jou …
met een tranend hart dat voluit lacht
zoals de warme zon die door de koele regen schijnt
Tussen ons is niets versmacht
’t maakt eerder een regenboog
wat een pracht

Tot dansens Jo Grolus

Head in the clouds

It was wonderfull! I'm stil walking with my head in the clouds! It's diffecult to get myself at the earth again and work from 08.00 till 17.00........

Angels all around

So I cherish my memories and feelings for you, with whom I joined in taboe camp
I hold you in my hands, my heart, my feelings.
Being with all of you in the world of Taboe camp was wonderful.
Coming home I felt as in heaven....do I know?
Well I felt down to earth, a happiness and quietness had come into my body.
I went home visited by angels, send home with light and sweet lovely music in my heart!
Cleaning the home next day the house became shiny while I danced the most beautiful tangos.
Shopping felt like meeting many angels. I felt connected with the people around me.
Back at work I realised I am surrounded by many angels, I will caress them even more.
So many angels, some with wings, one of us already had full blown wings, she must be very wise! Some with aureoles, some with a B in front....
thank you all

Waaaauuuuuuuuuwwwwww

This was a great 4 days gathering of wonderfull people. A new generation of angels has been born. This camp was again better than the last, because it was more a creation of us all together. And see what we created... I think, no I am sure, that we are not the same anymore after the camp. Each of us has experienced what happens when you come out, show your self and free your creative energies. We can do anything we want.

If you want to share something on this weblog, please do so. If you have photo's or video's, put them on the net and send the link. We will put them on the log.

It is now as a dream somehow. It feels strange to accept normal life again, but it helps to know that in december we will all meat again. In between we only have our Taboe milonga (every last friday of thje month) to offer.

Thank you all for being so beautifull.

Paul and Paras

Tango is

........

Tango is listening to the music of each others bodies
in the ear, through the skin, to the hands,
flowing through the embrace down into the feet

Tango is walking the future- together
Moment for moment- now

as thinking stops the dance begins

Weather report

I'am sorry to say, but it does not look like a real summer time next week. The weather is a mix of sun and rain, with average temperatures (around 20 - 21 degrees). But I heard a romour that if 100 hundred people at the same time whish for nice weather, it will happen. So ... here we go ... one ... two ... three,

Great and thanks to us all we can dance and eat outside.

Who is who?

If you look to the right you see the who is who directory. Now only P&P are displayed quite lonely. If you have a website or a blog or a flickr page, then add it to the list or send us the info or ask us to become editor and do it your self. It will be fun to get to know each other better allready.

Video clip and more

Yesterday we had a team meeting and were again full of ideas. We came up with some creation-workshops ideas for the first day. One group will be making a Tango video clip, another is going to do someting with giving and receiving feedback and another will learn more in a Tango laboratory. We are so excited.... if anybody has ideas about workshops it's is welcome. If we like it as much as you do, you could even lead that workshop yourself (if you want of course).

65 campers so far

So far about 65 people are visiting the camp. Just 3 kids, which I find a bit strange, because the camp is really a nice place to combine familly and Tango. But who knows what next weeks will bring. We are still looking for some single man for some ladies on our waitinglist.... and more dancers (and kids) are welcome. So feel free to promote the camp to dancers who like to smiule while dancing.

Taboe Volleyball

Taboe Volleyball

Yesterday a new idea was born (Christa & Jasper) as a nice kick-off game for the evening milonga’s: Taboe Volleyball. We, Paras and Paul, are well know for promoting a loose leg for the follower. So why not doing something useful with the leg. So let's play volleyball. So, if you want to become the Taboe Champ, you can already start to practice.

Taboe Teenagers

Hi, my name is Laura and I'm coming to Taboe Tango from Iceland with my 15 year old daughter Kinnat. I'd love to hear from other participants with teens or from young participants coming on their own. Among our interests are photography, design, social networking, art, crafts, and dance. Kinnat has tried a bit of tango with me, but is more interested in freestyle dance. I will be bringing a camera and laptop to the camp, and perhaps that is something I can share with this age group if they want to create something. I welcome your comments!

Our new motto?

A colleague of mine just gave me the right words:

“You need to share before you can multiply.”

And this is exactly what we are aiming at. At the camp, but also at this blog. So if you want to share something, please let us know. We can give you access as an author or we can post your message.

Think of your website, a poem, some thoughts, whishes or your excitement.

Let create together,

Paul

Tango whisperer

Inspired by the camp we already had a try-out with a new idea. During the last Taboe milonga we introduced the Tango whisperer. It was a strangely dressed man (Hans) who you could ask to pass a message to another dancer. If you like anonymous.

It was great to see that suddenly many women dared to ask those man they never trusted themselves to ask and visa versa. Many compliments where exchanged and even new relations seems to develop. Hi hi hi, it was again such a fun to make Tango more than just a dance.

Love to all

Paul

ont-moetingen

Frieda.
